Performance Exhaust For Your BMW

by Rand Stuck

Common BMW exhaust makes include Ansa exhaust, Eberspaecher (OEM), Bosal exhaust, Borla, and Ernst. Enthusiasts can also find BMW brackets, BMW flange nuts, BMW mounts and BMW hanger brackets. It is advised to typically replace the system gaskets whenever you replace or repair the exhaust system or BMW muffler. BMW exhaust has a sport free-flow design that almost eliminates backpressure to result in a measurable increase in power. Additionally this increased power comes with a more aggressive sound that is distinctly aggressive.

The Power Sound control on the muffler lets you change a perforated baffle to adjust the exhaust sound to your liking (e.g. slightly louder or more muffled). The system utilizes stock installation points, so installation is easy. They are manufactured in Europe from the best stainless steel and are frequently supported by lifetime guarantee.

Their systems are designed for high performance while adhering to noise and pollution restrictions. Those three requirements are typically mutually-exclusive, meaning that there is a bunch of hard work that goes into the exhaust. To start with, there is the picking of exhaust pipe components.

On performance cars, you typically will find stainless steel, otherwise mild steel is employed on lesser cars to save cost. Now the method of holding everything together must be considered. Many OEM BMW exhaust systems are welded rather than clamped to make leak-free connections.

The challenging part lies is in producing the exhausts and catalytic converters as free-flowing as possible while still getting them to perform; namely, decreasing noise and additionally cleaning up the exhaust gasses, respectively. The OEM BMW exhaust does a pretty good job, too. However if you do not mind a slightly more aggressive exhaust, consider replacing your OE BMW exhaust with an aftermarket sport exhaust. This will produce more power, your vehicle will rev more quickly, and you will get the aggressive note of a high performance exhaust system.

A nice set of BMW headers can add considerable gains in HP to your BMW, although probably the most accurate way to phrase it is that this upgrade will allow your BMW to use the power that it already has in the best possible way. When your BMW emits exhaust from the engine, if you are not using a set of BMW headers, the odds are that your automobile is spending precious power to push that exhaust.
