Used Car Warranties

Many people are not aware of the differences between the purchase of a certified used car and buying a used car which has an extended warranty.

When a certified used car is purchased there are two different ways in which the customer gets value. The car which you are purchasing has undergone a complete and thorough inspection and the details have been taken care of. In case the vehicle breaks down when it is still covered by the warranty program then the repair has to be done free of charge. A certified used car is one which has not been used that much and it has been given a complete inspection and all the necessary repairs have been taken care of and the vehicle has also been covered by an extended warranty.

There are certain programs where roadside assistance of a tow truck will be offered in case the car breaks down in the middle of the road. All these benefits have been included as a part of the same package for a single price. Hence, you get to purchase the car as well as the warranty at one price instead of buying them as two separate entities.

Finding a good used car is not a very difficult task and a simple extended warranty will have to be purchased to cover any repairs or damages. But this process which seems so simple, can sometimes be very complicated. The actual condition in which the car has been purchased is not really known. This makes it mandatory and all the more essential for you to inspect the car thoroughly and completely before you go and ahead and sign on the dotted line to buy it.

When the price of a used car is being negotiated, the price of the extended warranty will also have to be bargained at the same time. The dealer gets to make his actual profit on the sale of an extended warranty. But it is an equally difficult task for the customer to know what is the right price he should pay for an extended warranty. The claims and coverage that you can get through a certified, used car program cannot be had through an extended warranty on a used car.

You can simply select a car which you have found on the dealer's lot and ask him whether this car has been included in the certified used car program.
